Enjoy these recipes created by two computer science & food enthusiasts who decided to start their summers with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Each of the recipes was crafted, tweaked, and consumed by us with the goal of making them easy to follow and without all the extra fluff most sites usually have. We had a lot of fun coding and designing this site from scratch and hope you like what you see!

Avocado Toast

Ingredients:

• 1 ripe avocado
• 2 eggs
• 2 slices of preferred bread
• Vegetable oil
• Olive oil
• Red pepper flakes
• Lemon juice
• Garlic powder
• Black pepper
• Salt

Optional: arugula, prosciutto

Steps:

1. Mash the avocado, add about a teaspoon of lemon juice, and season to taste



2. Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil on medium heat and crack two eggs into pan



3. Once whites have begun to set (after about 3 minutes) flip the eggs and cook another 2 minutes. While the eggs cook, toast the bread and spread the avocado



4. Place the eggs on top of the avocado spread and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes and drizzle with olive oil



5. Optional: Place a slice of prosciutto between the spread and the egg and/or top with arugula

Banana Bread

Ingredients:

• 3 ripe bananas
• 1 large egg
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1/4 cup butter
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 tsp salt

Optional: nuts, chocolate chips, etc.

Steps:

1. Mash bananas with a fork and add in the beaten egg in a mixing bowl



2. Melt the butter and mix it in



3. Add the sugar, baking soda, salt, vanilla extract, and flour and mix batter until smooth



4. Mix in optional ingredients



5. Grease a loaf pan and add the batter, drizzle with more optional ingredients. Bake at 350°F for 55-60 minutes (check with a toothpick or chopstick!)

Pigs in a Blanket

Ingredients:

• 4 sausages (preferred kind)
• 1 tube of Pillsbury croissants
• 4 slices of cheese (preferred kind)
• 8 pieces of bacon
• 1 egg
• Honey Mustard

Steps:

1. Preheat oven to 375



2. Spread honey mustard on each triangle of the dough



3. Wrap half a slice of cheese around half a sausage, and then wrap a slice of bacon around that



4. Wrap in the dough and glaze the top with a whisked egg



5. Put in the oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden-brown

Bolognese

Ingredients:

• Half an onion
• 2 stalks of celery
• 3 carrots
• 8 slices of bacon
• 1 stick of butter
• 1 lb of ground beef
• 9 oz tomato paste
• 4 cups beef stock
• 3 cloves of garlic
• 2 boxes of penne
• Black pepper
• Salt
• Garlic powder

Steps (should all be done in one pot):

1. Mince all the vegetables



2. Cut bacon into small pieces and cook until slightly crispy



3. Remove bacon and cook the ground beef in the bacon fat (season and taste as you cook)



4. Remove the beef and and cook the vegetables in the remaining fat until lightly browned



5. Reduce the heat and add the beef, bacon, tomato paste, and then broth



6. Mix well and let simmer



7. Cook the pasta about 2 minutes less than usual



8. Add the pasta to the pot with the sauce, add the butter, and cook until al dente
